Bronny James Announces Personal News Amid Lakers Season

Bronny James is navigating another difficult season with the Los Angeles Lakers, and finding consistent playing time has remained a challenge. The 22-year-old guard entered his third NBA season hoping to build on the progress he made last year, when he appeared in 42 games and showed improvement in his shooting.

The Lakers, meanwhile, have opened the campaign strongly. They are 7-2 to start the year, and the competition for minutes has made opportunities harder to come by for players at the end of the rotation. James has made just five appearances, averaging 0.8 points in 2.4 minutes per game.

With James still struggling to crack JJ Redick’s rotation, the Lakers assigned him to their G League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Lakers, on Thursday.

Away from the court, however, James has given fans something else to look forward to. The Lakers guard announced a new Topps trading card featuring him and encouraged collectors to get their hands on it.

“Collect my card,” James wrote on his Instagram Story.

James’ connection to Topps dates back to his college days at USC, when he appeared in the 2023-24 Bowman University Chrome Basketball collection. That release also featured a special one-of-one dual autograph card pairing him with his father, LeBron James, in their respective uniforms.

He has continued to appear in Topps products since then, including the 2025 Topps Chrome Basketball collection, which featured him as a rookie. The company’s return to basketball cards has also brought renewed attention to its releases featuring young players and established stars.
