Michael Porter Jr. has started a new chapter in his NBA career after getting traded to the Brooklyn Nets.
Over the last six seasons, Michael Porter Jr. has served as a key star for the Denver Nuggets. However, Porter Jr. had a terrible run in the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
Following that, the Nuggets decided to trade Porter Jr. and a 2032 first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets. In exchange, they received Cameron Johnson.
While the 27-year-old expressed regrets over the move, he’s already starting to settle in with his new team.
A key reason behind Porter Jr.’s struggles during the postseason was a Grade 2 shoulder strain. The 2023 NBA champion is seemingly recovering well from the setback.
In fact, Porter Jr. recently took part in his first workout with the Nets, and the 27-year-old made a ‘hard’ admission about it.
“I’m not even gonna lie, they got me working probably as hard as I’ve ever worked, but I’m making progress,” Porter Jr. said via his YouTube channel. “I’m excited, man. This is an amazing opportunity. The staff over here is great.”
After just a single workout in Brooklyn, Porter Jr. admitted he has never worked that hard during his entire career.
It seems the talented forward is all set to have a bounce-back campaign next season.
Throughout his time in Denver, Porter Jr. averaged 16.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game for the Nuggets.
His best scoring campaign came during the 2020-21 NBA season, where he averaged 19.0 points per game. However, according to an anonymous Nets executive, fans will witness him surpass that number during the 2025-26 NBA season.
“We’re transitioning our roster, of course. We’re going to play a lot of young players. But we need some vets to balance that. And, of course, we need to score some points.
“Porter will help us a ton there. I’m not saying he’ll win the scoring title, but I think it could be close,” the executive told Hoops Wire.
