Bruce Brown returned to the Denver Nuggets this offseason despite receiving interest from the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns, according to NBA reporter Bennett Durando of The Denver Post.
Brown helped the Nuggets win the 2023 championship against the Miami Heat.
“I was like, ‘You know what, I don’t care how much (I get offered). If I get somewhere more, I don’t care. I’m just gonna go back to Denver because I just think it’s a perfect fit for me,'” Brown said. “Playing style, and I mean, I want to win again. So I think it was a pretty quick answer for me once I found out they wanted me back.”
Brown left the Nuggets for the Indiana Pacers in the summer of 2023. The Pacers traded him to the Toronto Raptors during the 2023-24 season and then the Raptors traded the swingman to the New Orleans Pelicans last season.
Brown signed a one-year, $3 million contract in July that’ll cost the Nuggets $2.3 million against the salary cap. He averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.6 blocks for Denver during the 2022-23 season.
The 29-year-old Brown has played for the Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets, Nuggets, Pacers, Raptors and Pelicans. He has career averages of 8.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks in 457 NBA games.
The Nuggets lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round of the 2025 playoffs in seven games. They haven’t gotten past the conference semifinals since winning the 2023 championship.
Denver was very busy this offseason, surrounding Nikola Jokić with more talent. The front office signed Brown and Tim Hardaway Jr., traded Michael Porter Jr. to the Nets for Cameron Johnson and sent Dario Šarić to the Sacramento Kings for Jonas Valančiūnas.
