Bucks’ Cam Thomas says Nets ‘don’t believe in nobody’

Bucks newcomer Cam Thomas did not hold back when asked about his time with the Nets.

Speaking to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post prior to Milwaukee’s loss to New York on Friday, Thomas said his exit from Brooklyn was “absolutely” tied to the organization’s belief in him. He added that it went beyond just his situation.

“That’s just who they are,” Thomas said. “They don’t believe in nobody.”

The Nets waived Thomas shortly after the February 5 trade deadline when no deal materialized. Because he had signed a $6 million qualifying offer last summer, he held a de facto no-trade clause.

His representatives preferred a waiver, allowing him to choose his next destination. He later signed a minimum contract with the Bucks for the rest of the season.

Asked why he thought the Nets lacked belief, Thomas declined to dig deep.

“I never asked. I don’t even care anymore. I’m on a different team,” he said. “They didn’t believe. Always thought something was better, I guess. Always chasing something.”

Thomas, 24, played four-plus seasons in Brooklyn and will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
