Riding high on the buzz that Damian Lillard created following his game-winner , Giannis Antetokounmpo made sure to remind everyone to vote for his Milwaukee Bucks teammate to be an All-Star.

On Monday, just hours after Lillard propelled the Bucks to a 143-142 overtime victory over the Sacramento Kings, Antetokounmpo took to Instagram to endorse the star guard for the All-Star Game.

Sharing a series of photos of Lillard’s game-winning, buzzer-beater, Antetokounmpo captioned his post with, “Vote my guy [Damian Lillard] for All-Star.”

Lillard definitely deserves to be an All-Star this 2023-24 season. After all, he has been a key factor in the Bucks’ early success this 2023-24 season. Without him, the team wouldn’t be able to have a 28-12 record for the second seed in the East.

His clutch heroics for the Bucks are just the latest proof of how important he is to the team. With just 5.2 seconds left on the clock in overtime, Lillard took matters into his own hands to deliver the team to victory. After getting the inbound pass, he quickly proceeded to take the ball to their side of the floor and launched from near halfcourt for the win.

It was a classic Dame Time moment, further reminding everyone why the Bucks desperately traded for him to give Antetokounmpo a legitimate superstar partner.

Lillard is averaging 25.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists on 42.9 percent shooting. While those are below his averages from last season when he was with the Portland Trail Blazers, it’s more meaningful now. True enough, those numbers are enough to solidify his All-Star case.

Where Antetokounmpo, Lillard Rank on All-Star Voting

For what it’s worth, both Antetokounmpo and Lillard are in good positions when it comes to the fan voting for the All-Star Game.

The second All-Star fan returns were revealed recently, as Antetokounmpo has garnered the most votes so far in the East and the NBA with 3,475,698 votes. LeBron James leads the West with 3,096,031 votes.

As for Liillard, the Bucks guard is third in the voting for East guards with 1,414,122 votes. He is behind Tyrese Haliburton and Trae Young.

It remains to be seen if Lillard can surpass the two guards in front of him, but Giannis’ endorsement should certainly help. With the attention he got from his epic game-winner, it should also give him some All-Star boost.
