The Milwaukee Bucks will be without guard Kevin Porter Jr. for Friday’s matchup against the Toronto Raptors after he sustained a left ankle sprain. Giannis Antetokounmpo was also listed on the injury report with a sore left big toe, giving the team another health concern to monitor as the season gets underway.
Porter left Wednesday’s season opener against the Washington Wizards after injuring his ankle. Before the team officially ruled him out for Friday’s game, head coach Doc Rivers shared a concerning update about his point guard’s condition.
“It didn’t look good, I’ll just say that. We just gotta hope for the best. Looking at it, it was a pretty bad sprain,” said the Bucks head coach.
The Bucks have listed Kevin Porter Jr. (left ankle sprain) as out for Friday’s game in Toronto on the injury report. No further update from the team outside of that at this point.

Rivers confirmed that Porter had an MRI on Thursday, and the results didn’t bring much optimism. The 25-year-old guard, who started in Wednesday’s matchup, left early after posting 10 points, two assists, and one rebound in nine minutes of play. The extent of his injury hasn’t been determined yet, though for now, he’s being labeled as day-to-day.
With Porter unavailable for Friday’s game, Ryan Rollins is projected to handle the starting point guard duties, and Cole Anthony should see an expanded role in the rotation when the Bucks face the Raptors.
Antetokounmpo, who was listed as probable before Wednesday’s matchup because of a back concern, ended up playing more than 27 minutes and putting on a show. He poured in 37 points on 16-of-26 shooting, along with 14 rebounds and five assists, guiding the Bucks to a 133-120 win over the Wizards.
The Greek Freak needed less than 30 minutes on the floor to secure the victory over the listless Washington Wizards and his former teammate, Khris Middleton. Coming off one of his strongest campaigns last season, where he averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game, Antetokounmpo looks poised to put up similar numbers in the 2025-26 season.
Antetokounmpo is expected to take the floor on Friday, determined to push the Bucks to a 2-0 start. Milwaukee wrapped up last season with a 48-34 record, including 31 wins against Eastern Conference rivals. The team excelled offensively, shooting 48.6 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from three-point range throughout the 2024-25 campaign.
