The Milwaukee Bucks might enter their matchup with the New York Knicks missing key contributors. Kevin Porter Jr. has been ruled out with a left ankle sprain, while both Cole Anthony and Kyle Kuzma remain uncertain to play.
Kevin Porter Jr. has appeared in only one game this season, where he tallied 10 points, two assists, and a steal in just nine minutes before injuring his ankle. After undergoing an MRI and an evaluation by team orthopedic surgeon Carole Vetter, the Bucks confirmed the injury as a sprain.
After joining Milwaukee at last season’s trade deadline, Porter averaged 11.7 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. Before the move, he played 45 games with the Los Angeles Clippers, posting 9.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per contest.
The Bucks expected Porter to miss their road games against the Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers, but as they get ready to face the New York Knicks on Monday night, he remains sidelined.
Anthony last suited up against the Raptors, where he came off the bench to record 23 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and two steals. He sat out the loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers and could be forced to miss another game as he continues to deal with an illness.
Cole Anthony is only two games into his stint with Milwaukee, coming off a season with the Orlando Magic where he averaged 9.4 points, three rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game.
With Cole Anthony sidelined on Sunday because of an illness, Doc Rivers had limited choices at point guard after Ryan Rollins. Andre Jackson Jr. and Mark Sears failed to make the most of their brief time on the court.
Kuzma also sat out Sunday’s loss after leaving Friday’s win over the Raptors early with an ankle injury. He scored eight points in 18 minutes off the bench before exiting. As he continues to recover, Bobby Portis and Taurean Prince are expected to see increased minutes, particularly if the 30-year-old remains sidelined. Since joining the Bucks last season, Kuzma has averaged 14.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists across 33 games.
In a wide open Eastern Conference, the Bucks aim to make a deeper playoff push, with the frustration of three straight first-round exits still lingering throughout the organization.
