Bucks interview Taylor Jenkins for coaching vacancy

The Bucks are starting to zero in on their next head coach, and one familiar name is already in the mix.

Milwaukee has met with former Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins as the search begins to take shape, according to Eric Nehm and Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Jenkins has been on the radar from the start. Once it became clear that Doc Rivers would not be back, his name quickly surfaced as a serious option.

There is a reason for that. Jenkins went 250-214 in Memphis and reached the playoffs four times in six seasons. He also knows Milwaukee’s building, having previously served as an assistant under the Bucks before his run with the Grizzlies.

This first meeting was more about direction than details. No contract terms were discussed. The focus was on vision, where the roster is headed and what the organization wants to be moving forward. Another meeting is expected soon, which tells you this has some traction.

Jenkins is not the only name out there, and he may not be in a rush. Leaguewide, he is viewed as one of the stronger candidates available, which means he could take his time and see what else develops.

One situation to watch is Orlando. The Magic have been loosely tied to potential coaching changes involving Jamahl Mosley, though that picture may be shifting after a playoff win in Detroit.
