In a battle between two teams widely considered as among the chief contenders for the Eastern Conference crown, it was the Milwaukee Bucks, who came out on top Tuesday night at Fiserv Forum against Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks.
Milwaukee muscled out a 121-111 victory over the visiting squad, with Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the way for the hosts. The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player lit up the Knicks for a game-high 37 points on 16-for-22 shooting from the floor. Moreover, Antetokounmpo padded his outstanding stat line with eight rebounds, seven assists and two blocks while finishing with a plus-18 in 33 minutes of duty on the court.
Many expected the game to be a tightly contested one, and it looked as though the Knicks were going to run away with a win after establishing a 12-point lead at the half. But the Bucks got it together in the second half and completed a come-from-behind triumph.
A big reason for Milwaukee’s success was its defense on Towns, who finished with just eight points on a salty 2-for-12 shooting.
Towns was largely ineffective, especially on offense. In the second half, he shot 1-for-11, and while he had eight rebounds in the final two quarters, he turned the ball over three times and was a minus-15 in the same stretch.
Via Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News:
KAT says the Knicks lost tonight because of him, says he tried to do too much in the 3rd quarter where he shot 1-of-9 from the field, and says he wants to take accountability for his play because accountability is big in the locker room
The Knicks slid down to 2-2 following the loss, while the Bucks’ win improved Milwaukee to 3-1.
