Bucks legend calls out leaked LaMelo Ball penthouse video

LaMelo Ball is starting a new chapter with the Minnesota Timberwolves. After six years with the Charlotte Hornets, he will now live in the Twin Cities. Relocating to a different state is always tough, even for superstar athletes. But Ball, who grew up in California, said he is excited for his move.

He had to pack up his belongings in Charlotte and have them delivered to Minnesota. A mover hired by Ball filmed his penthouse, showing his personal stuff, including his shoe collection and expensive merchandise.

Fans marveled at the 24-year-old guard’s penthouse, as it gave them a glimpse of his life beyond basketball.

Former NBA guard Michael Redd, however, did not appreciate the video, stressing the value of privacy.

“I don’t care about the penthouse. What gets me is that this got filmed and posted at all,” said Redd on X.

“Somebody Melo hired to help him move took video inside his home and put it online for clicks. Assuming it’s even real, that’s a guy’s private space.”

It remains unclear if Ball allowed the mover to film his penthouse or if the mover did it secretly. Still, for Redd, who starred for the Milwaukee Bucks in the mid-2000s, it is important to have a personal space, especially for public figures.

“Being a ballplayer or a name or a guy with some money doesn’t cancel your right to a little privacy. This is how guys end up needing an NDA to hire a mover, order food, get your house cleaned. Everybody you let near your life becomes a potential leak,” said the one-time All-Star, who is now a venture capitalist.

“Let’s normalize privacy. Let’s normalize kindness. Let’s normalize normality.”

In the age of social media, privacy has become a big issue, and some fans feel like they are entitled to access to public personalities.

Ball is known for his stoic attitude, so it is possible that he did not mind the video. But as he continues to mature and probably start a family in the future, he might want to take note of Redd’s advice as well.
