The Milwaukee Bucks haven’t quite built momentum off winning the Emirates NBA Cup, but they have been playing better of late. After defeating the Denver Nuggets on Thursday, they are winners of five of their last six games. They now own a 33-25 record, good for fifth-best in the Eastern Conference. After waiving a player on a two-way deal earlier in the day, Pete Nance will be joining the Bucks on a two-way contract.

Pete Nance Joins Bucks On Two-Way Deal

Late Thursday evening, Shams Charania of ESPN tweeted out that the Bucks are bringing in forward/center Pete Nance on a two-way deal. The 25-year-old is the younger brother of current Atlanta Hawks player Larry Nance Jr. and the son of 13-year veteran Larry Nance.

The younger Nance brother previously was on the Philadelphia 76ers this season on a two-way deal. The team waived him on February 6, but he got into seven games for the 76ers prior to that. Playing 9.7 minutes per contest, the 6-foot-11 forward/center posted averages of 2.1 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.4 assists. His high of eight points came against his new team, the Bucks.

Nance went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft out of North Carolina. In February of last year, he agreed to a two-way contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He appeared in eight games for the team totaling 27 minutes. In that brief time, he scored two points, grabbed three rebounds, and recorded a steal.

Much of Nance’s time this season has come in the G League with the Cleveland Charge and Delaware Blue Coats. He has appeared in 18 combined Tip-Off Tournament and regular season games with the teams, averaging 15.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.6 blocks. Nance has shot 48.1% from the field, 37.8% from beyond the arc, and 69.0% from the foul line.

The other two-way slots on the Bucks are occupied by Ryan Rollins and Stanley Umude.

Liam Robbins Waived To Make Room

In order to make room for Nance on the roster, Milwaukee needed to waive someone who was on a two-way deal. As first reported by Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, that player was Liam Robbins. The announcement of Robbins being waived was made before the announcement of the Nance signing.

A 7-foot center, Robbins went unselected in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Vanderbilt. Just prior to the 2024-25 regular season tipping off, the 25-year-old joined the Bucks on a two-way contract.

Robbins made his NBA debut on October 31, 2024. He received action with Milwaukee in 13 outings for a total of 57 minutes. In that time, Robbins finished with totals of nine points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks. He has played 13 combined Tip-Off Tournament and regular season games this season with the Wisconsin Herd of the G League.

The Bucks next game comes Saturday on the road against the Dallas Mavericks. They currently sit just a half-game behind the Indiana Pacers for fourth place in the conference. A top-four seed earns a homecourt advantage in the opening round of the playoffs.
