You could say that Cade Cunningham is finally living up to his billing as the No. 1 overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft.
The Pistons selected him hoping that he could become the franchise's cornerstone piece, and even though he has suffered a historically bad team, terrible roster construction under the old regime and some significant injury history, Cunningham seems to be rounding into form.
So much so, in fact, that he's been named one of the reserves for the 2025 Eastern Conference NBA All-Star team.
This is Cunningham's first All-Star selection and it marks the end of a drought for Detroit. The last Pistons player to make the All-Star Game was Blake Griffin in 2019. He's the first Pistons draft pick to make the NBA All-Star Game since Andre Drummond in 2018.

For the first time in his career, Cade Cunningham is an NBA All-Star ⭐️ pic.twitter.com/e65d1pg0v8
Cunningham is averaging 25 points, 6.4 rebounds and 9.3 assists this season on 45.4% shooting from the field and 36% shooting from downtown.
His 9.3 assists per game is the highest by a Piston since Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas averaged 10 a game in 1886-87.
This is a well-deserved honor for the young Detroit star.
