The Chicago Bulls are basking in the glory of selecting North Carolina forward Caleb Wilson as the No.4 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Already, many are setting high expectations for Wilson to help resurrect Chicago from a recent period of stagnation.

But one thing Wilson wants to set straight is that he doesn’t want to be compared to legends like Kevin Garnett, per ESPN. During the Draft on Tuesday, Wilson spoke to ESPN’s Malika Andrews and rejected the comparisons out of respect for Garnett.

“I don’t like to be compared to Hall of Famers, ” Wilson said. “That’s disrespectful to them…KG was a dawg and I feel like we have similar mentalities and approach to the game.”

Analysts such as ESPN’s Jay Williams have compared Wilson and Garnett, which stem from their similar playing styles. Both exeude athleticism and explosivness on the offensive end. Also, both are known for playing agressive on-ball defense and their playmmaking.

Garnett played 21 years in the NBA beginning in 1995, when he came out of Faraguant Academy in Chicago. He played for the Minnesota Timberwolves from 1995 to 2007, 2015-2016, where he won the 2004 NBA MVP. Along the way, Garnett helped put Minnesota on the NBA radar.

He played for the Boston Celtics from 2007 to 2013, helping lead the Celtics to the NBA title in 2008. Garnett also played two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets from 2013 to 2015.

Wilson is fresh off a stellar first-year at North Carolina, averaging 19.8 points and 9.4 rebonds per game. He also set a record for scoring 20+ points in seventeen games.
