Caleb Wilson impressive in second preseason game

The preseason rolls on for the Chicago Bulls as the countdown to the 2026-27 season continues. For the Bulls, they are ushering in the Tiago Splitter era as a rebuild is officially underway for the franchise.

At the center of that rebuild is Caleb Wilson.

The former North Carolina Tar Heels’ standout was selected No. 4 overall by the Bulls in the 2026 NBA Draft and he’s one of the key pieces on the roster for the rebuild. Wilson stood out in the NBA Summer League  for the Bulls, making a good first impression. Now, he’s carrying that over to the preseason where he’s been pretty darn good through two games.

Wilson was impressive in the win over the Phoenix Suns earlier in the week. But on Friday, he matched up against No. 3 overall pick Cameron Boozer and the Memphis Grizzlies. While the Bulls took the loss, Wilson looked good again.

It was a slow start for Wilson in the game, struggling in the first half. But he turned it on in the second half.  Wilson finished the game with 21 points, but 15 of those were from the three-point line. He went 5-for-11 on threes, attempting a fair number including the potential go-ahead attempt late in the game with the Bulls down 102-100.

Wilson got a good look to take the lead but the shot fell short. It’s preseason so you can live with that and as Wilson said, everybody just wanted to go home.

“We all trying to go home,” Wilson said jokingly in the locker room. “Trying to end the game right there. No overtime. I’m going for it all every time.”

At North Carolina, Wilson didn’t really use the three-point shot in his game. Instead, he had just 1.1 attempts on average per game. That hasn’t been the case so far early in his NBA career. Wilson hasn’t been hesitant to shoot the three-point shot and wants to add that to his game.

If he can be consistent with that, he’s already got a good mid-range, the sky could really be the limit for this talented prospect.
