It has not been the best of starts for the Chicago Bulls this season. They are 1-2 and made unwanted history in their season opener against the Toronto Raptors and also lost the home opener on Saturday versus the Washington Wizards. However, Caleb Wilson has emerged as a bright spot and living up to expectations. News about the rookie forward emerged after three games.
Wilson entered the NBA as the Bulls’ No. 4 overall pick this year. He enjoyed a strong collegiate career with the North Carolina Tar Heels, starring for the program last season. The 20-year-old earned consensus second-team All-American, first-team All-ACC and ACC All-Rookie team honors.
He is averaging 22.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.3 blocks in his first three professional outings. Chicago addressed its need for a versatile big man who can score and make an impact on the defensive end. Wilson will have the opportunity to play a lot of minutes throughout the season and become one of the favorites for the Rookie of the Year award.
Wilson has recorded the second-most points by any Bulls player through his first three games in franchise history. The feat says a lot considering the number of legends who started their careers in Chicago. Only Michael Jordan has scored more than him over the same stretch.
“
CHICAGO BULLS HISTORY. Caleb Wilson has scored 67 points through his first three NBA games, the SECOND-MOST by any player in Bulls history. The only player ahead of him? Michael Jordan with 74,” Novig wrote.

The Bulls will return to action on Monday to face the Boston Celtics at TD Garden. It’s a huge test for Wilson as he will go up against the home team’s frontcourt led by Jayson Tatum and Mitchell Robinson. However, he has shown that he is not afraid to attack the basket regardless of who is defending him. All signs point to Wilson breaking a few more franchise records if he continues his hot start.
