Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade formally announced on Wednesday the official launch of the Social Change Fund.
The three NBA superstars — with Wade of course having just retired after last season — simultaneously revealed their collective goal to “create a pathway for inclusion & success by championing organizations on the ground doing the work” through the organization, according to Wade’s tweet.
Proud to come together with my brothers @carmeloanthony @CP3 to create @Socialchangefnd. Our goal is to create a pathway for inclusion & success by championing organizations on the ground doing the work. “All lives can’t matter until ALL Black Lives Matter!” Wade’s social media dispatch continued.
The tweets from Anthony and Paul shared a similar theme, with the former’s stating that the Social Change Fund will be be “investing in and supporting grassroot organizations who are working to affect for social change day in and day out.”

Meanwhile, Paul’s tweet indicated the organization’s mission is to “address socio-economic injustice issues facing Black and Brown communities by making meaningful change. Looking forward to building a better, more equal tomorrow.”

The Social Change Fund’s official site adds that the organization will “support critical and timely issues impacting the Black community. Our priorities are ending police brutality, championing criminal justice reform, enabling economic equity, supporting voting and civic engagement, and advocating for the human rights of all Black lives.”
An option to donate funds to the organization’s cause can also be found on the site’s homepage.
Wade, Anthony and Paul have long been outspoken advocates for social justice causes that seek to eliminate systemic racism, inequality and police brutality against people of color. Their efforts in that regard have only intensified in the wake of the death of George Floyd on May 25 while in Minneapolis police custody, among other recent high-profile incidents of police misconduct.
With the launch of the Social Change Fund, the longtime friends will be better able to coordinate and focus their efforts to bring about the widespread and aspirational change the three hope to bring to American society.
