Cavaliers work out NCAA scoring leader

The Cleveland Cavaliers worked out a top scorer ahead of the upcoming NBA Draft.

Spencer Davies reported on Thursday that the Cavs worked out Eric Dixon, who spent his career at Villanova.

Dixon, 24, played at Villanova from 2020-2025. He averaged 23.3 points per game last season, which led Division I college basketball.

Dixon shot 45.1 percent from the field and made 40.7 percent of his three-pointers. He averaged 5.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

The Cavaliers hold picks Nos. 49 and 58 in the draft, which is scheduled to take place on June 25-26.

Dixon received an invitation to the NBA Scouting Combine, which was held last month. He measured in at 6-foot-7.5 and 258.6 pounds.

Some people have given a generous comparison of him to Julius Randle.

The Cavs are coming off a 64-18 season, which helped them land the top seed in the East. They lost to the Indiana Pacers in five games in the conference semifinals. That result was disappointing but is starting to not look as bad now that the Pacers are leading the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals.
