The Cavaliers have exercised their option on Craig Porter Jr.‘s contract for next season, Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com tweets.

The club option of $2,406,205 is non-guaranteed; it becomes fully guaranteed if he’s still on the roster through Jan. 10.

Porter appeared in a career-high 64 games (three starts) last season for Cleveland, averaging 4.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 17.9 minutes per game. He played in 51 games in each of his first two seasons in the league after going undrafted out of Wichita State.

His playing time diminished during the postseason with the Cavs relying on Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Sam Merrill and Dennis Schroder in the backcourt. Porter only appeared in seven playoff games, getting garbage time minutes on each occasion.

He’ll be an unrestricted free agent next summer, unless the Cavaliers reach an extension agreement with him.
