The Cavaliers will try to get back on track Friday night in Dallas. They will have to do it without one of their most dependable players.

Center Jarrett Allen has been ruled out again, marking his fourth straight missed game.

Allen also sat out the Cavs’ 128-122 loss to the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. Along with Allen, Cleveland will be without guard Tyrese Proctor, who is dealing with a quad strain.

Allen’s absence matters. He has quietly been one of the Cavs’ steadiest contributors all season, averaging 15.3 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 63.6 percent from the field across 51 games. He also is a major factor when the idea is anchoring the interior defensively.

The Cavs (40-26) are fourth in the Eastern Conference and 18-14 on the road. The Mavericks (22-44) are playing for next year.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST on Amazon Prime. The teams meet again Sunday in Cleveland.
