The Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies reportedly held trade talks last week according to Jake Fischer. It is believed that Brad Stevens is still active trying to move the contracts of recent additions Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang. Presumably Boston would be bringing in a big man in return, but that would be a secondary priority to just getting the best deal done and getting off the contracts.
Brandon Clarke and John Konchar are a couple players that presumably could be headed back to Boston if Dallas was after Simons. Celtics would reduce their payroll in a deal like that and get a useful big in Clarke. They could then potentially try to flip Konchar later.
If Memphis was after Niang you'd be talking about a smaller contract coming back. Stevens is undoubtedly talking to other teams as well. Considering that there was no press conference introducing the newest Celtics yet, that's a decent sign that Simons and/or Niang could be flipped before the offseason is over.
