Jaylen Brown watched on as Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics secured a third-straight win on Sunday, jumping to 50-24 on the 2025-26 NBA season after a 114-99 win over LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets. Now, the Celtics will look toward their second game of a four-game road trip on Monday, taking on CJ McCollum and the Atlanta Hawks.

Brown has kept the Celtics in playoff contention in what was supposed to be a gap year for the team. After losing Kristaps Porzingis , Jrue Holiday and Al Horford to free agency, along with Jayson Tatum missing most of the year while recovering from a torn Achilles, Brown is having an MVP-caliber season, averaging career highs of 28.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.

But over the last two games, Brown had been ruled out due to left Achilles tendinitis, including matchups against Jalen Johnson and the Hawks just a few days ago, a 109-102 win for Boston, as well as Sunday’s victory over the Hornets. Despite Brown’s absence, however, the Celtics have been fortunate to have Tatum, their other superstar, available.

Ahead of Monday’s game against Atlanta, the Celtics received some good news, as Brown was no longer listed on the injury report, meaning he will return for the Hawks matchup. The former California Golden Bears guard will get his second chance this season to play near his hometown of Marietta, Georgia, with Atlanta just down the road. The last time the Celtics came to town to face the Hawks was on Jan. 17, when they secured a 132-106 win behind Brown’s 41 points.

Along with Brown, Derrick White is expected to make his return after missing the win over Charlotte with a knee contusion. But Tatum (Achilles repair management), along with center Nikola Vucevic (ring finger fracture) have been ruled out.

Following the Hawks matchup, the Celtics will be back in action on Wednesday, facing Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat at 7:30 p.m. ET.
