Celtics' Grant Williams has one goal this offseason

Grant Williams' future with the Boston Celtics has been a topic of debate all season. Last summer, the Celtics front office was unable to agree terms on a contract extension with Williams.

As such, the Tennessee native is entering restricted free agency this summer. According to multiple reports around the NBA, multiple teams hold an interest in extending an offer sheet to Williams.

When speaking to the media on Tuesday, Williams noted that his focus is solely on winning and being an impactful rotation member.

“If something else happens, I have to transition,” Williams said. “For me, my outlook has always been that I want to make sure that wherever I am, to impact the success of winning and making sure that I’m there for the players that are around me, and focus on the team first. Whatever happens, this free agency will be that.”

Since entering the NBA, Williams has developed into one of the best young three-and-d wings in the NBA. It's no surprise that multiple franchises around the league covet his services. Williams could be plugged into a contender as an impact piece off the bench. Or, a rebuilding team could acquire Williams as a culture setter for their young and developing roster.

However, it's unlikely that Williams finds himself on a team as talented as Boston's. If winning is truly what the young forward values most, he will instruct his agents to make a deal with the Celtics.

Williams knows the system, has a relationship with his teammates, and is a growing presence within Boston's locker room. At 24 years old, Williams still has time to earn a bigger payday on his next deal. Negotiations are far easier when you have a championship or two on your resume.

If Williams is about winning and nothing else, now is the time for him to prove it by taking a team-friendly deal in the search for a championship.
