Jaylen Brown is on the move.
The Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a blockbuster trade involving Brown and Paul George. The Sixers are acquiring Brown, while the Celtics are getting George and some draft compensation.
ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania broke the news on the blockbuster trade on Wednesday evening, July 1. The trade is expected to be made official soon.
"BLOCKBUSTER: The Boston Celtics have agreed to trade Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks, sources tell ESPN," he reported.
The Celtics have been linked to Brown trade rumors for a while now. Boston attempted to trade him to Milwaukee for Giannis, however the Bucks ended up sending the MVP forward to Miami, instead.
With Brown growing frustrated by Boston's lack of commitment - and loyalty - to him, the Celtics likely felt that they had to trade him.
George is still a very good player, and two first round picks is solid draft compensation. However, this looks like a really nice move for the Sixers, who can now pair Jaylen Brown - a former NBA Finals MVP - with their star big man in Joel Embiid and their star point guard in Tyrese Maxey.
