Celtics star Jayson Tatum reportedly tests positive for COVID-19

The Boston Celtics will be heavily shorthanded when they host the Miami Heat on Sunday.

Tristan Thompson and Grant Williams are out due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols after coming into close contact with Robert Williams, who tested positive for the coronavirus. Boston will also be without one of its most important players.

According to Mark Murphy of The Boston Globe, Jayson Tatum has tested positive for COVID-19 and is asymptomatic.

Tatum has been one of the Celtics' best players this season, averaging 26.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 47.4% from the field and 43.8% from deep.

With the Duke product sidelined, Javonte Green, Carsen Edwards, Aaron Nesmith, Semi Ojeleye and Payton Pritchard will likely see more playing time.

Tatum signed a five-year, $195 million extension with the Celtics during the offseason.
