Charles Barkley has added another chapter to his long-running feud with Draymond Green, and this time his comments went straight at the Warriors star’s legacy.

The tension between the two has been building for years, but it recently escalated after Green took a personal shot at Barkley on live television.

What followed was a response that blended criticism of Golden State’s current struggles with a much broader comparison of careers, and Barkley did not hold back.

Charles Barkley calls Golden State Warriors ‘irrelevant’ while firing at Draymond Green

Speaking via The Dan Patrick Show on X, Barkley questioned both the Warriors’ current standing and Green’s place in the game.

“The Warriors haven’t been relevant for three or four years. They’ve been in the play-in, and when you’re in the play-in, you’re not in the playoffs,” Barkley said.

He added, “The Warriors have been in the play-in for four straight years, so they’ve been irrelevant. Old people don’t get healthy, old people die.”

The comments reflect Barkley’s long-standing view that Golden State’s dynasty has come to an end, pointing to their repeated play-in appearances and aging core as signs that their title-contending days are behind them.

They also come shortly after Draymond Green aimed a personal jab at Barkley during a television appearance, saying his goal was to avoid “looking like you in a Houston Rockets uniform,” referencing Barkley’s late-career stint.

Charles Barkley compares Draymond Green to Hall of Famers in blunt response

Barkley then took the argument a step further by directly comparing Green’s career to some of the greatest players in NBA history.

“If Golden State were relevant, he wouldn’t be in the studio with me! I wouldn’t trade my career for Draymond’s, I’m pretty sure Karl Malone wouldn’t, and I’m pretty sure Patrick Ewing wouldn’t,” he continued.

“He’s had a terrific career, but to think he’s on the same level as us as players, you’d have to be crazy,” Barkley concluded.

The comparison highlights the fundamental difference in how their careers are evaluated. While Green has four NBA championships and a Defensive Player of the Year award, Barkley, Malone, and Ewing built their legacies on individual dominance, with multiple All-NBA selections, MVP honors, and sustained statistical production.

That contrast has long fueled debates around Green’s place in basketball history, particularly when measured against Hall of Fame players who did not win titles but were primary offensive forces throughout their careers.

For Barkley, however, the conclusion is clear. This is not a debate about rings. It is about level.
