The New York Knicks’ season is on the line on Thursday night as they take on the Indiana Pacers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

New York enters Thursday’s contest in a must-win situation after they lost Game 4 on Tuesday night in Indiana to fall into a 3-1 hole in the series.

Of course, the Knicks are back at Madison Square Garden for Game 5 where they will have home-court advantage but New York dropped their first two games at home in the series but they will look to extend their season on Thursday.

It has been a disappointing series thus far for the Knicks and their starters have been a major reason why as all five starters have had a negative plus-minus in three of their four Eastern Conference Finals games.

NBA legend and TNT analyst Charles Barkley gave his thoughts on the Knicks’ struggles ahead of Game 5 and also took a shot at their head coach Tom Thibodeau.

“Maybe one of the reasons their starters are down is because (Thibodeau) plays them into the damn ground for the last six months,” Barkley said about the Knicks’ struggles in the Eastern Conference Finals.

This was a clear shot by Barkley and one that has haunted Thibodeau during his coaching career, especially over the last few seasons.

Of course, Thibodeau’s coaching style requires his starters to play a ton of minutes every game throughout the entirety of the season, which has made them gassed in the playoffs.

Despite multiple people calling him out for it, Thibodeau has continued to coach the same way and it has once again had an impact on the Knicks this season as their starters have struggled during their series against the Pacers.

Despite this, the Knicks still have a chance to make a historic comeback in the series and potentially advance to the NBA Finals but if they lose on Thursday night at home, their season will come to a disappointing end.
