Charlotte Hornets swingman Brandon Miller lauded the team’s much-improved play and resolve after they secured their 40th win of the season, following a 117-86 rout against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night.
Miller was the Charlotte Hornets’ top scorer with 25 points (game-high), three rebounds, and four three-pointers on 7-for-13 shooting from the field in 29 minutes. With the road victory, the team is tied with the ninth-seeded Miami Heat and sits a half-game behind the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic.
“I think the heart is there, the heart is showing every night. We’re competing at the highest level against any team on any given night, and just building wins for the city of Charlotte. I think we’ve been doing a great job with that,” Miller said in his courtside interview.
“One of the things we learned is playing really good teams,” head coach Charles Lee said. “Especially at this point in the year — meaningful games — there’s carryover, whether you win or whether you lose, you have to move on quickly. Because the opponent is going to be a high-level team and you can’t dwell on what happened the night before, win or lose.”
Coby White continues to embrace his Sixth Man role with the Charlotte Hornets. Against the Brooklyn Nets yesterday, the 26-year-old combo guard posted 16 points and five assists on 5-for-12 shooting from the field in 21 minutes.
“In the first half, I wasn’t as aggressive as I’d like to be… Coach continued to get on me about just being myself. He told me, ‘I know you’re in a different situation…’ I’m not starting and stuff like that, but whenever I come in the game, just be myself, don’t overthink, and just be ready to compete and be aggressive. He challenged me, and then in the second half, I just wanted to respond,” White stated.
“When you’ve got guys that make shots, and you move the ball, it’s easy to have multiple guys in double figures. That’s kind of what we look for when we play — is play together, move the ball, and let the guys make plays,” he continued.
