Charlotte Hornets Star Makes The All-Rookie 1st Team
Scott Kinser-USA TODAY Sports

The young star player on the Charlotte Hornets, Brandon Miller, was one of the five players to make the All-Rookie First Team this season. The other rookies to join Miller in that honor are Chet Holmgren, Victor Wembanyama, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Brandin Podziemski. The All-Rookie teams are determined by a global panel of sports journalists and broadcasters.

Although the talk of the town this season regarding the rookies were Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama, Brandon Miller, Jamie Jaquez Jr., and Brandin Podziemski were three other rookies to not sleep on for their output on their teams.

Brandon Miller’s Rookie Season On The Charlotte Hornets

Before being drafted by Charlotte, Brandon Miller was a great player in Alabama. The former SEC Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year was chosen second overall in last year’s NBA Draft. Brandon Miller did not disappoint the Charlotte Hornets this season.

He averaged 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and just about 1 steal last season. Brandon only played 74 games last year but started 68 of them. He had some big shoes to fill when Terry Rozier went to Miami during the regular season and Lamelo Ball went down due to injuries once again.

Unfortunately, the Hornets went 21-61 this season. Yet, Charlotte is a young team. Brandon Miller proved to the team that he could score at all levels. He shot 44% from the field, 37.3% from the 3-point arc, and 82% from the free throw line.

What Could Brandon Miller Do Better Next Season?

It’s safe to say that Brandon Miller can be an even greater scorer next year. He’ll probably work more on his finishing and gaining muscle to finish hard in the paint. The Hornets would also like to have Lamelo back healthy and remain healthy. The league didn’t really see how the two would perform together for long, though. Yet, the league can see it happen this year.

If there’s anything that Brandon Miller could improve on is his playmaking and rebounding. He averaged 1.8 turnovers last season and only recorded 4 rebounds. For him to record almost 20 points per game as a rookie is fantastic, but he has to make his game more multidimensional on the offensive side of the ball.
