Chet Holmgren fires back at ESPN, Victor Wembanyama

Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama went at it on the court on Monday, and then Holmgren continued online.

When Wembanyama scored on Holmgren and drew a foul, he also flexed over the Oklahoma City Thunder big man.

Holmgren, who scored 21 points to Wemby's 20 in the game, wasn't having it. He quote-tweeted the highlight, complaining that Wembanyama head-butted him on the play.

Perhaps he was upset about the head butt. Or the capital letters in ESPN's tweet. Or Holmgren was annoyed that the majority of postgame highlights focused on Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs' top pick this year, while he had the statistically superior game. Plus his team won!

But Holmgren betrayed himself by using the "crying laughing" emoji, and doing it twice. That's trying way too hard to hide that he was not amused at all.

Holmgren, who missed all of last season with an injury after the Thunder picked him at No. 2, is perhaps Wembanyama's biggest competition for the Rookie of the Year award. Clearly he's measuring himself against the 7-foot-4 Frenchman. But he's going to have to do more to surpass Wemby than tweet when the season — and their rivalry — gets going.
