Chicago Bulls teammates already notice Caleb Wilson’s mentality

Friday night’s debut for Chicago Bulls rookie Caleb Wilson was an impressive one. After waiting months to return to the court, Wilson finished the game with 35 points including making 7-of-11 three-point attempts.

Wilson’s debut was one of the best in Summer League over the years and it’s never a bad thing to make a good first impression. The only thing that could have gone better is if the Bulls had won the game. Even so, Chicago fans have to feel good about what they have in terms of Wilson and their rookie class.

That includes guard Dailyn Swain who also had a solid game in his debut. But the former Texas guard was impressed with the fellow rookie Wilson’s mentality.

It’s pretty obvious that Wilson is mature for a rookie. Right away in the draft process, Wilson was able to showcase his mentality of wanting to win and turn around the Bulls franchise. Now, Swain says players are feeding off of that.

“Caleb is hunting everybody,’ Swain said via Will Gottlieb. “He won’t say it enough. But we know, we can see it in his mentality pregame, during the game. He’s hunting these guys, and he works so hard.”

It’s impressive that Wilson has been able to grab the attention of his teammates right away and it not be just his talent. Wilson’s leadership and mentality could go a long ways in terms of success in his career.

But now, the goal will be to build on this start to Summer League and carry it over to the next game.
