
On Saturday, the Chicago Bulls announced they will retire former Bulls guard Derrick Rose's jersey number during the 2025-26 NBA regular season.

The news comes as the Bulls prepare to host the visiting New York Knicks on Saturday. The game will feature pre-game and halftime celebrations to honor Rose in what the Bulls have themed as "Derrick Rose Night." Tip-off is 7 p.m. CT and will air on Chicago Sports Network (CHSN).

Chicago Bulls President and Chief Executive Office Michael Reinsdorf released a statement on Rose's jersey number retirement and per CHSN's K.C. Johsnon, Reisndorf also personally delivered the jersey retirement news to Rose on Saturday.

For Rose, his Bulls player legacy will forever be memorialized in the rafters of the United Center along with Bob Love, Jerry Sloan, Michael Jordan, and Scottie Pippen. The Bulls also display retirement banners in the United Center for former Bulls head coach, general manager, and broadcaster Johnny "Red" Kerr, former head coach Phil Jackson, and former general manager Jerry Krause.
