Clippers investigation may finally be nearing resolution

We keep hearing that the investigation involving the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard, Steve Ballmer and cap circumvention allegations is nearing its conclusion, and maybe it really is.

But all we can do for now is live with the updates. 

Well, we have another. Per ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, a ruling may not be far off. (Stop us, by the way, if you’ve heard this before.)

“I know that the investigators have presented initial findings, but they’re still making calls and putting things together. But they are having conversations with Ballmer and his lawyers already,” Shelburne told ESPN LA 710, via Brett Siegel of Clutch Points. “They’re talking about it. I don’t know if you would call it a settlement or some kind of negotiation, but that’s already happening.”

This follows an ESPN report from a few weeks back claiming the league found no concrete evidence in its investigation involving the Clippers. That, however, may have jumped the gun, according to multiple follow-up reports.

Along with the Clippers, the Raptors are waiting for some finality in all this, given that Toronto orchestrated a trade for Leonard.

That deal was agreed on back in June and sends Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033, a 2027 first-round pick swap and two second-rounders to LA for Leonard. All involved reportedly believe it will eventually go through.

Perhaps soon we will know. Until then, we’ll just have to live with the updates.
