Clippers Predicted to Land $22M Guard to Bolster Roster

The Los Angeles Clippers are entering the NBA offseason with a lot to figure out. The team overperformed expectations this past season, and they will now be looking to build on that.

With the star duo of James Harden and Kawhi Leonard still in place, Los Angeles has the means to contend for a title. But the Clippers will need to build a more well-rounded roster around the stars.

Depth is crucial in the NBA, and the Clippers could be very active this summer. The team has been looking for another guard to help with the ball-handling duties, and they could take a glance at the free agent class.

NBA writer Dan Favale of Bleacher Report predicted that the Clippers would sign veteran Malcolm Brogdon to a deal. Los Angeles almost landed him a few summers ago, but injury concerns arose.

"The Clippers have a clear need for another ball-handler who can lighten James Harden's workload, as well as for another shooter who can space the court. Brogdon checks both boxes, even if he's not your traditional floor general, as someone who can both play alongside and independent of The Beard.

"Acquiring him this time around won't be so complicated. The Clippers will have more than $20 million in wiggle room beneath the first apron if Harden picks up his player option. That runway will lengthen if they waive Drew Eubanks," Favale wrote.

Adding a player like Brogdon could be perfect for this Clippers team. The veteran can run an offense while also providing decent two-way production.

Brogdon isn't the same player that he once was, but he is still more than capable of producing well. The veteran had some injury issues again last season, limiting him to jsut 24 games with the Washington Wizards.

But if the Clippers can get him for a decent contract, it could be worthwhile. Brogdon could take some of the pressure off Harden, while also giving Los Angeles more veteran experience in the locker room.
