The Clippers have signed guard Jason Preston to a training camp contract, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac.
Preston, 26, was selected early in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft by Los Angeles after a standout career at Ohio University. His professional start was slowed by a right foot injury that forced him to miss his entire rookie season.
The 6-foot-4 point guard appeared in 14 games for the Clippers in 2022-23 before being waived ahead of last season. He opened 2023-24 with the G League’s Memphis Hustle, then joined the Jazz on a two-way contract in January after a short stint with Utah’s affiliate in Salt Lake City. A calf strain limited his time with the Jazz, who waived him in November.
Across 21 career NBA games with the Clippers and Jazz, Preston has averaged 2.5 points, 2.0 assists and 1.9 rebounds.
He will enter camp as the 20th player on the Clippers’ roster. If Preston’s deal is an Exhibit 10, he would be eligible for a bonus of up to $85,300 if waived and then spending at least 60 days with the G League’s San Diego Clippers.
