According to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Los Angeles Clippers were reluctant to give Norman Powell a long-term extension.
The Clippers agreed to trade Powell to the Miami Heat on Monday.

Powell will make $20,482,758 next season in the final year of his contract. He averaged 21.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the Clippers last season in 60 games while shooting 48.4% from the field, 41.8% from beyond the arc and 80.4% from the free-throw line.
Powell has played for the Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers and Clippers. He has career averages of 13.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 617 NBA games.
Powell, 32, helped the Raptors win the 2019 championship against the Golden State Warriors.
