Cross-sport parlay: Robinson's hot with the Heat

Our reads on those conference tourneys did not go great yesterday. If it's alright with all of you, we'd like to take a breather from college hoops and instead turn back to the pros for a fun Friday night parlay. We'll then be back with gusto to attack the more notable conference tournaments as they get going next week. Sound good? Good!

Cross-sport prop parlay for Friday night

Duncan Robinson 4+ threes (+105)

Duncan Robinson has the hot hand here with the Heat, and a big reason why is an elevated role with Tyler Herro on the mend. Robinson has been thrust into the starting lineup with Herro out, and the splits are telling.

Robinson is averaging 32.7 minutes, 7.5 three-point attempts and 3.3 threes per game without Tyler Herro this season. With him, Robinson averages 25.2 minutes, 6.5 three-point attempts and 2.5 threes per game.

Props are so often about opportunity, and that's what we have here with the Miami shooter. In 14 games this season with 30+ minutes and 8+ attempts from deep, Robinson is over this line at a 64% rate, six times nailing 5+ treys.

The Thunder are allowing the fifth-most threes per game this season, which should give Robinson chances to continue his run from long-range.

Nathan MacKinnon 6+ shots (+175)

MacKinnon is rolling for Colorado and it's hard to see him slowing down here as the Avs host a Minnesota Wild team playing on a back-to-back.

MacKinnon has 6+ shots in seven of his last nine at home and in three of his last six against Minnesota. By all means, play him at his 4.5 line, but we prefer the value on another 6+ SOG effort.

Together, these two comes in at +463 on FanDuel for a fun NBA and NHL dual-threat tonight. Enjoy the action!

In the news ...

Jake Guentzel traded to Hurricanes — The NHL trade deadline is today, and the flurry of moves from this week continued last night with the Pittsburgh Penguins trading star winger Jake Guentzel to the Carolina Hurricanes. Guentzel is one of the league's best goal-scorers, and now strengthens what is already one of the Eastern Conference's best teams. Carolina currently sits second in the Metropolitan Division and has been a staple over the past few postseasons. It's a tough conference, but this move might be enough to push the Canes over the hump. Carolina is +800 to win the Stanley Cup, just behind Florida and tied with Edmonton for the second-best odds.

Pair of NBA MVP favorites have massive nights — It certainly seems likely that Nikola Jokic is about to win his third NBA MVP at the conclusion of this season. The Nuggets star piled up a 32-12-11 triple-double in a massive win over the Celtics, and the Joker is now -170 to win MVP. If you're looking for value should Jokic somehow stumble to the finish, that most certainly belongs to Luka Doncic, who just became the first player in NBA history to record four straight triple-doubles with 35+ points. Doncic is the league's leading scorer with 34.6 points per game, and he's third in assists with 9.8 per game. If Dallas makes a run toward the top of the table in the West, Doncic's +700 price to win MVP looks all the more intriguing.

Russell Wilson meets with Giants; Steelers next — Whether or not Russell Wilson can find some of his old dominance remains to be seen, but it won't stop his free agency tour from being one worth following. The recently cut QB reportedly met this week with the New York Giants, who currently have Daniel Jones and the No. 6 pick in the draft. Next up is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are the presumptive favorites to land Wilson. A dark horse to consider is Denver's rival the Las Vegas Raiders, who Wilson is "being advised to sign with." We shall see where things fall. NFL free agency begins next week.
