Current Hornets Star’s Father Has Words for NBA
Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

LaMelo Ball has established himself as one of the NBA’s brightest young stars, averaging 25.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 7.4 assists in his fifth season with the Charlotte Hornets.

However, despite his individual success, he has yet to lead his team to the playoffs. LaVar Ball, the outspoken father of LaMelo, recently reignited conversation around a possible reunion of the Ball brothers, LaMelo, Lonzo, and LiAngelo, in a video shared by Big Baller Brand.

In the video, LaVar asserted that the key to winning an NBA championship is reuniting his sons on the same team. "If you want a championship, listen to me. I'm making it very easy,” Ball stated.

“Everybody trying to go out and make these trades. Hey, Melo should be over here, Melo should be over here. I don't care where you put Melo, but what I do tell you if you put him with his brother, he will go to his original spot, which is the two,” Ball noted “He loves to score, but the only person he'll move over from the one spot is his brother Lonzo,” he said, suggesting LaMelo would shift positions to make room for Lonzo.

“Get Lonzo, Melo, and Gelo. Can't nobody beat my guys playing fast,” Ball claimed. While LaMelo is a rising star, Lonzo is just returning to form after missing nearly three years due to injury, averaging modest numbers with the Chicago Bulls. LiAngelo, meanwhile, has been out of professional basketball since 2021, focusing on music.

The dream of a Ball brothers trio dominating the league makes for a compelling story, but with roster realities and varying career trajectories, it remains a long shot.
