Free agent wing Dalen Terry has reached an agreement to sign a standard, two-year contract with the Thunder, reports Shams Charania of ESPN.
Terry had been in training camp with Golden State this fall on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 contract before being waived at the end of the preseason. As Charania notes, the former first-round pick had reported to the Santa Cruz Warriors ahead of the start of the G League season but will leave the Warriors’ affiliate in order to sign with Oklahoma City.
The 18th overall pick in the 2022 draft, Terry spent three-and-a-half years with the Bulls before being sent to the Knicks and then flipped to the Pelicans at the 2026 trade deadline. After being waived by New Orleans, the 24-year-old signed a two-way contract with the Sixers and was promoted to Philadelphia’s standard roster at the end of the 2025/26 season.
That deal Terry signed with the 76ers covered two seasons, but it was non-guaranteed for ’26/27 and he was waived in July when the club needed room below its hard cap to sign LeBron James.
Terry made 218 total regular season appearances for the Bulls and Sixers, but his impact at the NBA level has been limited. The 6’6″ swingman holds career averages of 3.5 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 11.2 minutes per game, with a shooting line of .443/.314/.638.
While Terry is unlikely to play a significant role for the Thunder, he’ll provide some much-needed wing depth for the banged-up club, which is missing Jalen Williams, Cason Wallace, and Chet Holmgren due to long-term injuries. Holmgren (right knee patellar tear) is likely to remain out through at least December and it’s unclear whether or not Williams (fractured fibula and dislocated ankle) or Wallace (torn labrum) will be able to return this season.
Oklahoma City has an open spot on its 15-man standard roster and won’t need to make a corresponding move to sign Terry, whose contract will likely be non-guaranteed. The team previously reached a tentative agreement to sign another free agent wing, Ochai Agbaji, but that deal fell through after Holmgren’s injury was diagnosed, with reports at the time indicating that the front office wanted to reassess its options.
As we observed as the time of Agbaji’s initial agreement, filling that 15th roster spot will be important for the Thunder, since it will give them more flexibility to use their players on two-way contracts without being subject to the “under-15” rule. It also potentially allows them to apply for a hardship exception to add more reinforcements on 10-day deals.
