Dallas Mavericks Fans Will Love Cooper Flagg's Summer Request

When the Dallas Mavericks drafted Cooper Flagg first overall, they knew that they were getting a stud. His defense has been compared to Scottie Pippen and Kevin Garnett, and his offense has been compared to Grant Hill.

Most importantly, his competitive nature is off the charts. He loves to win, and he pushes himself more than anyone else in the draft class.

He played in only two Summer League games for the Mavericks, leaving fans wanting more, although they all understood that his being shut down early was for the best, as the injury risk far outweighed any rewards.

Apparently, Flagg was in the same camp as his fans and begged the team to let him keep playing.

“We had a plan to play only two games," an unnamed Mavericks executive told Spotrac. "Cooper comes to us and the coaches and asks to play a third game. We laughed and told him, ‘No. You’re good.’ And he goes, ‘I just don’t want people to think the good game was a fluke.’ All we could do was laugh, but it shows how much he wants to be great.”

In his first outing, he scored only 10 points and failed to make a shot from deep. He followed that up with 31 points against the San Antonio Spurs before being shut down, making fans even more excited for his debut in the regular season.

On a roster with veterans and future Hall of Fame players, Flagg is expected to be one of the best talents on the roster right away, impacting winning from the start for Dallas.
