Dallas Mavericks: Is 2024 the Year Luka Doncic Finally Wins MVP? One Analyst Is Sure
Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Luka Doncic is a huge reason why the Dallas Mavericks are still in the play-in picture. Anyone will tell you that without Luka Magic, everything will easily crumble for Jason Kidd’s team.

While Luka’s outstanding play this season is a major contributing factor to the team’s success, other players are enjoying incredible individual seasons as well. If the Mavericks stay where they are, it’s almost impossible for Doncic to win the coveted MVP award.

However, one analyst believes that Doncic can have his first major individual accolade if he manages to accomplish one thing.

Analyst believes Luka Doncic is MVP if the Dallas Mavericks finish the season as the fourth seed

Noah Weber of The Smoking Cuban crafted a piece that had one vital question for each member of the Mavericks’ roster. While he had no doubts about Luka’s on-court ability, he posted one challenge that he believes is more than achievable for Luka Legend.

He thinks Luka Doncic can easily win the league’s MVP award with the quality of play he’s been showing throughout the year. However, he also argues that there’s a huge condition for Luka to clear if he wants to win the award:

If Dallas can end the season on a big winning streak and possibly grab the No. 4 seed, then Doncic will have a much better chance at winning the MVP. If not, it doesn’t look like he’ll be winning it.

This looks like a possibility this year, as the chemistry and energy of the team are outstanding right now. Getting hot at the right time is important for the playoffs, and this is exactly what the Mavs are doing right now.

However, he also recognizes that the MVP is the last thing on Luka’s mind right now:

The MVP award doesn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things, especially for Doncic. He just wants to win an NBA Championship.

If the Mavs do finish the season as the fourth seed, there’s little chance that Doncic won’t get the award this season. He’s averaging 34.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 9.8 assists as the primary ballhandler and shot-creator.

It would be a dream scenario for Dallas Mavericks fans if Doncic wins his first MVP and championship ring this season. While they have a tough stretch of games to go through, they have the man who can bring them there donning Dallas blue.
