Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic Shares Candid Reaction to His Game-Winning Triple Over Rudy Gobert in Game 2
Jesse Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks are two wins away from returning to the NBA Finals since 2011 , as they’re now up 2-0 against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals.

After a thrilling 108-105 Game 1 victory on Wednesday, the Dallas Mavericks followed it up with a 109-108 win on Friday, which saw Luka Doncic knocking down the game-winning trey over Rudy Gobert.

As the Dallas Mavericks trailed 108-106 with 12.8 left in the final period, Luka Doncic got the inbounds pass from PJ Washington and Dereck Lively II screened for the Slovenian superstar to get the switch on Rudy Gobert. Doncic danced around the four-time Defensive Player of the Year before hitting the stepback jumper with three seconds left.

It was another spectacular outing for the five-time NBA All-Star, as he had 32 points, 10 rebounds, 13 assists, and five three-pointers, while his co-star Kyrie Irving finished with 20 points, four rebounds, six assists, and four three-pointers.

Dallas Mavericks coach Jason Kidd compliments Luka Doncic

Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd commended Luka Doncic for his game-winning shot, as it was, in fact, his only field goal in the final period.

“As you’ve seen with Luka, he loves that stage. He doesn’t run from it,” Kidd said via ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “He made a big shot. Luka is special. He loves those type of moments.”

When asked about his game-winner, Doncic said he never lost confidence despite failing to register a single field goal before the shot.

“I was just trying to get to my spot and step back. I’m confident in that shot,” Doncic said, who stared and yelled expletives at Gobert after the three.

“I can’t move fast, but I can move faster than him,” he added during his postgame interview with the “Inside the NBA” crew.
