Karl-Anthony Towns, the star of the New York Knicks, has always been ridiculed by his supporters and occasionally even by his colleagues. He has always been criticized for everything from his lack of defensive strategy during games to his behavior off the field. Towns has kept quiet about it, ignoring the outside noise and focusing on playing for his team.
Despite this, he’s often the subject of jokes and memes. One of the focuses of the fans is how he often changes his voice in front of the camera.
On Tuesday, Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving called out the fans who often make fun of the big man. Irving addressed it while he was on a live stream session on Twitch.
“Before I forget, y’all gotta stop making fun of my brother KAT,” Irving said. “I’m done with y’all. Stop making fun of my buddy KAT. It’s over for that. So f------ wrap. I’m letting y’all know if you re-post that s--- again or you meme him up, I’m attacking you. Not like that physically.
“Y’all gotta leave KAT alone, okay? ‘Cause y’all don’t know what’s it like to grow up in [New] Jersey and have all of these cultures that you’re a part of… I’m just saying, leave him alone.
“I don’t agree all the time when he be changing up his tone sometimes,” he added. “I don’t always agree with all that s---. That s--- be funny, but on a serious note, he is a man, he’s my brother and I’ll protect him all the time.”
While Karl-Anthony Towns has been quiet about being made fun of, Irving took the chance to stand up for his fellow star.
Despite the hate Karl-Anthony Towns has been getting lately, he’s still one of the best players in the league and has concentrated on doing his job.
