Dallas Mavericks Suffer Overtime Loss To Los Angeles Clippers

The Dallas Mavericks continued a three-game homestand against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, but the Clippers defeated the Mavericks 138-131 in overtime at the American Airlines Center. Dallas is now 23-48, while Los Angeles is 35-36.

The Mavs hosted Hardwood Classic Night. The players wore the green throwback Hardwood Classic jerseys to honor and celebrate the Mavs’ birth in 1980. The Mavs also hosted Los Mavs Night. The night started early with the Festival de Los Mavs featuring Los Pescadores del Rio Conchos in the South Plaza at 5:00 p.m. Central.

After two days off, Dallas returned to the court for a home game vs. Los Angeles. Saturday’s game marked the two teams’ first meeting since Nov. 29, 2025.

Los Angeles opened the first quarter scoring. Garland made the first two-point bucket of the game. Dallas benefited from home court advantage. Gafford threw down a one-handed jam to dazzle the home crowd. Klay Thompson followed up with four three-pointers. Dallas took a 42-32 lead to end the first.

Marvin Bagley III reached 4,000 career points. Bagley has been playing in the NBA since 2018. The 27-year-old was selected with the second overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in the 2018 NBA Draft.

Los Angeles went on an 8-1 run to open the second quarter. Dallas made a free throw to end Los Angeles’ early run. Flagg attacked Collins off the dribble to make a floater. Dallas took a 72-63 lead into halftime.

Lopez became the only player in NBA history with at least 18,000 points, 2,000 blocks, and 1,000 three-pointers. Lopez also became the 19th player in NBA history with at least 18,000 points and 2,000 blocks.

Flagg finished the first half with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 blocks, joining Kevin Durant and Victor Wembanyama as the only players to record these numbers in an opening half this season.

Los Angeles opened the third quarter on a high note. Los Angeles’ early 10-2 run set the tone, but Dallas later responded with a 10-2 run of its own. Garland made a flurry of three-pointers. Bagley III hung onto the rim to finish a two-handed jam. Los Angeles took a 100-99 lead through three quarters.

Dallas opened the fourth quarter on a positive note. Flagg weaved through traffic to make a floater. However, Los Angeles didn’t go down without a fight. Nicolas Batum made a three-pointer. The officials ruled that Washington didn’t get the shot off before the game clock expired, and the game headed to overtime tied at 122.

Dallas made a bucket to open the overtime period, but Los Angeles scored 11 straight points. Los Angeles won 138-131 in overtime.
