The Dallas Mavericks will face the Detroit Pistons in the 2025 NBA Mexico City Game, marking another milestone in the league’s growing international presence.

The game will take place Saturday, Nov. 1, at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, the NBA and Zignia Live announced Tuesday. It will be the NBA’s 34th game in Mexico — more than in any country outside the United States and Canada — and will coincide with local Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations for the second consecutive year.

Global Stage for Marquee Talent

The Mavericks, set to make their eighth appearance in Mexico, are expected to feature a high-profile roster headlined by 10-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, nine-time All-Star Kyrie Irving and four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson. Dallas also holds the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft.

Detroit, making its third appearance in Mexico, enters with strong momentum after completing one of the largest year-over-year turnarounds in league history. The Pistons qualified for the NBA Playoffs for the first time since 2016 and are led by 2025 NBA All-Star Cade Cunningham, along with young standouts Jalen Duren, Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson and Isaiah Stewart.

The game will showcase the NBA’s international reach. It will air live in Mexico, across Latin America and in more than 200 countries and territories on television, digital media and social media platforms.

In addition to the game, the NBA and its partners will host NBA Cares community outreach events, Jr. NBA and Jr. WNBA youth programming, and interactive fan experiences to bring the NBA closer to fans in Mexico City.

Celebrating Culture and Growing the Game

The Mexico City Game will feature Día de Muertos-themed in-arena activations, including a specially designed court and fan engagement initiatives.

“The Mavericks and Pistons are two exciting teams that feature a mix of established and rising stars,” NBA Latin America Senior Vice President Raul Zarraga said. “We look forward to welcoming them back to Mexico and to once again celebrating Día de Muertos with the passionate NBA fans in Mexico and from across Latin America.”

Mavericks CEO Rick Welts said the organization values the opportunity to represent Dallas and the NBA abroad.

“The vibrancy of Mexico City and the passion of its fans make it the perfect place to host these Global Games, and we are thrilled at the opportunity to represent the NBA and the city of Dallas in Mexico City for the eighth time,” Welts said.

Pistons President of Basketball Operations Trajan Langdon said the organization is eager to showcase Detroit Basketball on an international stage.

“Playing a regular-season game in Mexico City will be a great experience for our players and coaches, and we look forward to showcasing Detroit Basketball to an international audience and a passionate, growing NBA fanbase,” Langdon said.
