D'Angelo Russell Throws Shade At Minnesota Timberwolves Amid Trade Rumors
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Russell is confident in his own abilities and said it was the team's fault if they intended to ship him instead of using his skillset.

D'Angelo Russell had a blunt message to all the trade rumors and speculations surrounding him.

His move to the Minnesota Timberwolves came at a cost. The franchise gave up Andrew Wiggins and a first-round pick to acquire him, and with some immense backing from Karl-Anthony Towns, Russell found a home with the Timberwolves.

Of late, the guard has found himself as one of the players on the trade block, and safe to say, he's not pleased with the constant chatter. He is set to become a free agent after this season and is set to make $3 million in his last year.

But amid all the rumor mills, Russell is confident in his own abilities and said it was the team's fault if they intended to ship him instead of using his acute playmaking and scoring skill set. Per Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports:

“You either take advantage of me and my ability, or f*ck up the opportunity with me. It’s as simple as that.”

He also added:

“I’m an Alpha as well, you know what I mean? And I feel like I’m better than a lot of shooting guards and I’m better than a lot of point guards.”

At the time of writing, Russell is averaging 16.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.5 assists, becoming a crucial offensive contributor in Towns' absence as he continues to recover from a calf injury.

The Miami Heat Are Reportedly Interested In D'Angelo Russell

The point guard's abilities haven't gone unnoticed, and should the Timberwolves decide to look at him as a trade asset, there will be no dearth of suitors, with the Miami Heat reportedly looking at acquiring him.

Per SKORNorth’s Darren Wolfson, Miami has emerged as one of the interested parties after their retained core hasn't been firing on all cylinders and delivering.

Adding to that list are the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Clippers. Given how Russell has played this season, the Wolves are better off retaining his services, but only time will tell how it all pans out for him.
