Danilo Gallinari may have said something about Giannis Antetokounmpo that will have rival fans concerned.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is trying to put a turbulent summer behind him by leading Greece to success at the EuroBasket tournament.
As the Milwaukee Bucks put together their 2025-26 roster, Giannis has stayed quiet, choosing to shut down his prior attempts at stirring up speculation over his future.
With Greece, Giannis put up a good performance in a warm-up game. But playing in a competitive tournament is a completely different animal.
As Darvin Ham watched Giannis play much differently than he does with the Bucks, the Greek Freak put up a performance that had former NBA star Danilo Gallinari make a surprising declaration.
Former NBA star Danilo Gallinari spoke after Italy’s 66-75 loss to Greece about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s performance against them.
He admitted that while he and Italy did a good job trying to guard him, Giannis is too much of a force of nature and really can’t be stopped.
“It’s always difficult to stop him. I think we did a good job, but he’s so hard to guard. We were close a few times to tying the game or going ahead, but against him, you need 40 minutes of intensity and energy.
“Surely Giannis is the hardest part, but they also have so many experienced players, especially shooters. You have to do a great job inside, but also outside, because they can score a lot from the perimeter.”
For the next month or so, Giannis Antetokounmpo will be with Greece, as he looks to help them make a deep run in the EuroBasket tournament.
With all the drama the Milwaukee Bucks have been involved in this summer, it might be in Giannis’ best interest to just focus on his national team right now.
If his 31-point performance is a sign of things to come, this could be the best thing for both the Bucks and Giannis.
Building some strong momentum while playing competitive basketball ahead of the new season will allow Antetokounmpo to thrive for the Bucks.
