The Denver Nuggets looked to take a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 2 of their second-round series on Wednesday night.
Of course, the Nuggets stole Game 1 of the series after they were able to complete a comeback in the fourth quarter that ended with Aaron Gordon’s game-winning three-pointer.
They then looked to do the same on Wednesday night in Game 2, but that would not be the case.
Oklahoma City dominated their way past Denver in Game 2 as they defeated the Nuggets 149-106 behind an incredible performance from their superstar point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
The Thunder outscored the Nuggets 87-56 in the first half and they were then able to complete the 43-point victory to tie the series at a game apiece.
It was truly a dominant performance by the Thunder as the Nuggets struggled on both ends of the court and their star players provided little help on the offensive end.
Nikola Jokic finished with only 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists while Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr. combined to score only 32 points combined.
Because of their offensive struggles and their inability to stop the Thunder defensively, it led to a blowout loss as the Nuggets saw their advantage of the series disappear.
After the game, Nuggets interim head coach David Adelman made a loud three-word statement about the game.
“We got punked,” Adelman said after Wednesday’s blowout loss in Game 3.
"We got punked."

While Adelman’s response was only three words, they summed up the night perfectly for Denver as they were in fact punked by Oklahoma City.
Despite this, the Nuggets will now return home for Game 3 and 4 as they look to regain control of the series.
While that may be the case, Game 3 may be a must-win for Denver as they do not want the Thunder to regain home-court advantage by coming into Ball Arena and taking complete control of the series.
