De'Anthony Melton's Injury Struggles Continue vs. Nuggets
USA TODAY Sports

On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia 76ers are set to take on the Denver Nuggets, looking to extend their current winning streak to three games.

In their last time out, the Sixers welcomed the Houston Rockets into the Wells Fargo Center, with all the hype of the match being around the return of Joel Embiid, who appeared in the lineup for the first time in three games.

His return showed that the reigning MVP had lost very little of the energy that got him the prestigious award last season, dropping 41 points on 57 percent shooting, extending his 17-game streak of 30+ point action.

While Embiid returned, the same couldn't be said for his fellow starter De'Anthony Melton, who made his way back to the bench following a brief two game stint.

It appears that Melton will continue to be sidelined on Tuesday night as he has been listed as out due to the same back pain that has been plaguing him since early January.

Prior to this recent injury stint, Melton had been on a fine run of form, averaging 12 points per game on 39 percent shooting, while also managing to pester his opponents on the defensive end, securing 1.7 steals.

In the games that Melton has been out, Sixers' head coach Nick Nurse has opted to use Kelly Oubre Jr in his place.

Since the start of the new year, Oubre has been putting up 13.8 points per game, while also recording 1.8 steals per game, so the Sixers' defense doesn't exactly falter without Melton.

The Sixers will take on the Nuggets on Tuesday night, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST.
