The Denver Nuggets were able to force a Game 7 on Thursday, after their 119-107 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder . The Nuggets were on the brink of elimination, but stayed within the game even though they were down as much as 12 points before halftime. Denver stayed composed and took advantage of the moment when Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander sat on the bench after getting four fouls in the second quarter.

Before the game, the Nuggets reported that Jamal Murray was questionable for Game 6 with an illness. However, the one-time champion did not opt to sit out a crucial game and played 42 minutes (most for the team). Murray had 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists on 47.4 percent shooting. With his presence on the floor, the Nuggets outlasted the top team in the West.

After the game, Murray was asked if he ever thought of not playing before the game because of the illness he had. The point guard dismissed the narrative with his two-word response.

“Absolutely not,” Murray said.

In his postgame presser, Murray said that he never considered himself questionable leading up to the important game.

“Got tested for a couple different things. It was negative. Happy about that,” Murray said. “I was always going to play in my mind.”

Murray and the Nuggets will be back in Oklahoma City to play Game 7 on Sunday. The Nikola Jokic-led team looks forward to outlasting the Thunder and becoming the team that will play a best-of-seven series against the Minnesota Timberwolves in the conference finals.

The Denver Nuggets guard had high praise for Julian Strawther

Julian Strawther wasn’t a big-time player for the Denver Nuggets in the regular season. However, he came up big against the Thunder as he came off the bench. The second-year player had 15 points and shot a very efficient 75 percent from beyond the arc. Strawther’s contributions in Game 6 played a significant role in their win.

After the game, Murray spoke highly about their sophomore wing.

“Super happy. We all know what he’s capable of…you can see how he can impact the game real quick in a high pressure moment…his energy really set the tone for us. Everybody kind of realized what was going on. We were able to build off (it).”

During the first round series against the Los Angeles Clippers, Strawther barely played. He was on the floor for three out of the seven games they played. This round, he never got a significant amount of minutes. The most he played was in Game 2, where he was on the floor for 14 minutes.

But when they needed him the most on Thursday, he stepped up big time.
