The Denver Nuggets entered the offseason looking to upgrade their roster around star center Nikola Jokic to chase another championship next season.
Of course, the Nuggets are coming off a season in which they finished third in the Western Conference during the regular season and pushed the eventual champion Oklahoma City Thunder to seven games in the second round.
With their loss in the second round to the Thunder, it marked back-to-back seasons with a second-round exit for Denver and they entered the offseason knowing that they needed to make changes to return to being a title contender.
Denver started their offseason by pulling off a major trade with the Brooklyn Nets as they sent Michael Porter Jr. and a 2032 second-round pick to Brooklyn for Cameron Johnson.
On Tuesday, the Nuggets made an official announcement regarding the trade on social media.
“We have acquired Cameron Johnson from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Michael Porter Jr.,” the Nuggets posted on X on Tuesday.

This was a major trade by the Nuggets and also a shocking one as they had been unwilling to move on from Porter Jr. in prior seasons.
By making the trade, Denver adds a three-point sharpshooter in Johnson while also freeing up cap space that they have since used to make more moves this offseason.
The Nuggets have used the extra cap space to sign both Bruce Brown and Tim Hardaway Jr. to bolster their bench and they also pulled off a trade with the Sacramento Kings that swapped Dario Saric for Jonas Valanciunas.
With these moves, the Nuggets have been able to upgrade their roster, especially their bench, which was an area of weakness for them last season.
Due to this, along with Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon leading the way, Denver has turned their roster into a title contender once again heading into next season.
